28+ONE. An Artist Collaboration ~Day 20

Today was Day 20 of my 29 days of February photo-documentation

of Dorland Mountain Arts Colony. The project titled

"28 + ONE" is being updated daily on our fan page on Facebook.

The picture above is an out take from today's shoot, Day 20!

I am looking forward to the next 9 days which have

thus far been very exciting and artistically rewarding.

I would like to remind all of the followers of this blog that the prints

What happens when a fine art painter and muralist (Jill Kemerer Roberts) and a fine art photographer (Stephen Eldred) get together and each commit to creating one image a day for the entire month of February 2012, focused on their favorite non-profit, Dorland Mountain Arts Colony? Let the fun begin, let us know what you think, and help support one of the west coast's premiere artist retreats by purchasing one of their original art pieces.

A Moment of Truth...

Every artist has them... some more often, some less. I have been feeling antsy

for the last couple of days... could not quite figure out why. Yes, alot of changes

are taking place in my world, I have been feeling the need to take my

photography in new directions... then it happened. Thursday morning

December 8th, 2011 to be exact. I knew I was headed for the Temecula

Wine Country where I often go when feeling the urge to create new art,

When I was spoken to, by I presume, my God. My God/Guide said to me, 

" Let go of the need to create art for others...create Art for yourself,

in your Heart, of your Soul, with your Love" 

At that moment I realized a truth for me

that is really fundamental... The Heart, Soul, and Love within

the Art I create is passed along... infinitely! This is why I am an Artist!

This was a huge gift to be received by me... Allowing me to let go of any 

"preconceived" visions I have for what my Art should look like. 

It should look like it feels...

In my Heart, Of my Soul, With my Love...

Tomorrow I will share exactly how this does look, to an artist 

that is letting go of the preconceived, and allowing the

Spirit to guide...

to be continued!

Vineyard in Soft Light...

Today it rained on and off all day in Temecula... a nice relief!

I decided to take a Labor Day drive to the wine country, but was not expecting much

as I drove with my wipers on... but on I went. As the rain subsided to

slight drizzle, then swampy humid... I found a nice place to

park and wandered over to a small vineyard on De Portola Road.

I was surprised when I looked at the results of my

afternoon shoot, beautiful softness from the cloudy skies...

Monsoonal Thunderhead ~ Temecula Valley, California

I finally realized that to photograph this monster thundercloud, I had to go west, to Deluz,  about 5 miles west of Temecula, California. The temps in Temecula last Saturday reached nearly 110 degrees, and this monsoonal cloud brought plenty of trouble with it; A lightning caused wildfire in Anza, a downpour on a music festival in Idyllwild, and a tornado that touched down in Winchester, Ca. This was shot with a 16mm wide angle lens and still didnt get it all! For reference, the small dots on the hills in the foreground are avocado trees... click image to enlarge.
